This week we are working on applying for federal student aid (FAFSA) on fafsa.ed.gov/. Students must have their social security numbers and parent(s)/guardian(s) information such as social security number, highest level of education, marital status, and tax information.
What is FAFSA ?? The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a form that can be prepared annually by current and prospective college students (undergraduate and graduate) in the United States to determine their eligibility for student financial aid. Shout out to Lucerne Valley High School senior, Madison Redding on her submission for the DAR Good Citizens Scholarship. The DAR Good Citizens scholarship contest is intended to reward the qualities of good citizenship. A DARS Good Citizen has qualities of Dependablity, Service, Leadership, and Patriotism. Madison exhibits all four qualities to an outstanding degree. She is an Associate Student Body (ASB) Officer, Music Club member, Future Farmer's of America (FFA) Vice President, and an overall exceptional student. She has been selected as Lucerne Valley High School's DAR Good Citizen and is in the running for the contest to be eligible for several scholarships. The contest submission must include a personal statement and a 550-word essay to be written in a 2-hour time limit. Each state winner receives an award in the amount of at least $250. Each eight (8) national division winners will receive a $500 award, and two national winners will be invited to Washington DC to attend Continental Congress and will be awarded $5000 scholarships. Good luck to Madison on her journey!! October is the National Bullying Prevention Month and the goal is to unite communities nationwide to educate and raise awareness of bullying prevention.
